Case Studies | Semiconductor & High-Tech
Intel’s multi-billion-euro Fab 34 expansion in Leixlip is one of the most advanced and complex semiconductor manufacturing projects in Europe. The project demanded exceptional speed, precision and quality to meet aggressive timelines while adhering to the high standards required within the high-tech industry. The sheer scale of the mechanical, piping and electrical systems required a coordinated approach to reduce on-site congestion, improve safety and maintain quality.
AE Global was entrusted with a critical package of works, combining our specialist expertise in off-site modularisation assembly and population with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation delivery. Our process began with detailed BIM and constructability analysis, allowing our teams to digitally model and coordinate complex modules before fabrication commenced. This supported a right-first-time approach, helping to identify potential clashes early and optimise the works for fabrication, installation and site delivery.
At our 21-acre facility in Derry, we carried out high-spec pipework fabrication and the assembly of large-scale modules within a controlled workshop environment. Alongside the mechanical scope, AE Global also delivered electrical installation works, including CompEx-supported works within relevant hazardous area environments.
This integrated OSM and E&I approach provided key project benefits, including:
Our logistics team managed the delivery of populated modules from our Derry facility to the Leixlip site, ensuring they arrived in line with the project installation sequence.
Through a coordinated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and OSM solution, AE Global delivered a critical package of works that supported the successful delivery of the Intel Fab 34 project. The project demonstrated our ability to provide the certainty, quality and efficiency required on globally significant high-tech projects, reinforcing AE Global’s position as a trusted partner in complex M&E construction.
